Match Report

Armagh Blues 1 - 4 Banbridge AFC

Armagh Blues entertained Banbridge AFC in the second round of the Marshall Cup on Saturday. The early stages of the game were quite even with neither side creating clear goal scoring opportunities. However it was the away side who stuck first when the Banbridge forward tapped in from close range after good play down their right. The Blues then had a good spell with Morrison and Lester having chances to level. Banbridge doubled their lead on the stroke of half time following more good play down the wing.

The away said grabbed their third after half time scoring past an injured Blues keeper. Stand in keeper Chris Stockdale made a good save just before Banbridge sealed it with their forth. The home side then played with more freedom and deserved their goal when Morrison smashed home a penalty after he won it himself. Armagh where then denied a second when the away Keeper brought down Ryan Winter outside the box and the referee decided to give a free kick and send the Banbridge keeper off instead of playing advantage and allowing Jason Loney to tap into an empty net.
